Who we are

Free NYC is a service that lists free pop-ups, giveaways and events in New York City. You can reach us any time at hergienterprises@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Your email address and password, so you can sign in.
• Anything you choose to add to your profile: name, photo, neighbourhood and the kinds of things you're interested in.
• The events you save.
• Whether you want the morning email, and basic delivery information about emails we send you (delivered, opened, bounced).
• Ordinary technical records needed to run and secure the service, such as request logs and error reports.

We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and we never ask for payment details.

Why we use it

To let you sign in, to keep your saved list, to put the kinds of free things you care about first, and to send the morning email if you asked for it. That's all.

Where it is stored

Your account, profile, saved list and profile photo are stored in our own managed database and file storage, hosted in the United States. Access rules mean no other user can read your profile or saved list. Emails are sent through our email delivery provider, which needs your address to deliver them. Maps on each listing are embedded from Google Maps, so Google sees the usual information a website visit sends.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, your profile, saved list and sign-in details are removed immediately; backups roll off within 30 days.

Your choices

• Download everything we hold about you, as a file, from your profile page ("Download my data").
• Delete your account and all of its data from your profile page.
• Turn the morning email off from your profile page, or with the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Ask us anything about your data at hergienterprises@gmail.com; we answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Cookies

We only store what is needed to keep you signed in and to remember that you've seen the opening animation. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Children

Free NYC is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly create accounts for them.

Event information

Listings are gathered from publicly available calendars, feeds and pages. We link back to the original source on every listing and store only public event details, never personal data about event attendees or organisers beyond what those public pages state.
